Krka, Sava Among Top 1,000 EU Companies in R&D
Slovenian drug maker Krka and chemicals-through-tourism conglomerate Sava are among the 1,000 major investors in research and development in the EU, according to the "2007 EU Industrial R&D Investment Scoreboard", released on Friday.
Krka places 242nd with R&D investment worth over EUR 52m in 2006 and Sava is 975th with EUR 3.47m, according to the survey, which provided a list of 1,000 R&D investors whose registered offices are in the EU. The biggest investor according to the survey is German car maker DaimlerChrysler (EUR 5.2bn), followed by UK drug maker GlaxoSmithKline (EUR 5.1bn) and German industrial conglomerate Siemens (EUR 5bn). Very few companies from EU newcomers have made it to the list: in addition to Krka and Sava there are four companies from the Czech Republic, three from Hungary and two from Poland.
