Turkish businessman buys Kardjali tobacco processing factory

Aidatour, a company 22%-controlled by Turkish businessman Fuat Guven, has won the sale procedure for tobacco processing factory Kardjali BT, beating six other candidates.

Late last week, local tobacco Bulgartabac Holding said Aidatour offered 6.013 mln levs for 90.56% of its Kardjali unit.

The price bid deadline was March 7.

In 2007, Bulgartabac made two unsuccessful attempts to sell the Kardjali factory, first setting a minimum price of 2.5 mln and then lowering the bar to 2.1 mln levs.

In addition to production facilities in the town of Kardjali, the privatised Bulgartabac unit also owns assets in Ivailovgrad, Ardino and Krumovgrad.
