Research shows 75% of software illegal in Serbia

Serbia had a 74% rate of software piracy in 2008, as opposed to 76% in 2007, Business Software Alliance, an organization promoting legal software, announced, reports BETA news agency. The damage piracy has caused Serbiàs software sector increased by US$27 million to US$99 million, research conducted by the organization shows. Software retailers are not the only ones affected by piracy and its reduction can lead to the creation of several thousand new jobs, the organization says. According to the research, forged software went up from 38% in 2007 to 41% in 2008 worldwide and the piracy rate jumped as a result of the growing PC market.
