LG launches first 3D TV in Romania
LG Electronics Romania and Media Galaxy retail chain have put on the local market the first full HD LCD TV set with 3D technology – the LD920 model – alongside the Blu-ray 3D model BX580 model. ‘The 3D function will be incorporated into as many audio-video items, TV sets and players as possible, in various price ranges. (…) According to consumer preference, the 3D function may or may not be activated, meaning that the 2D content can still be viewed’, LG Electronics Romania Roh pan Ock states in a release.
Korean producer representatives say the 47 inch LD920 TV set went on sale in specialised stores yesterday, the recommended price being EUR 2,000. The recommended selling price of the BX580 Blu-ray player is EUR 300.
‘Romania is among the first countries in Europe where LG has launched the new products. Taking account of their price and features, we hope to sell about 300 3D TVs this year’, LG Home Entertainment Division head Sorin Spinu said during the launch event. Company data shows LG had local market share of 33.2 per cent on the LCD TV segment at the end of February, 13 per cent bigger than in the similar period of 2009.
The head of the LG Home Entertainment Division also noted that LG Romania had increased turnover by more than 20 per cent to EUR 130-135 M in 2009, with TV set sales accounting for almost EUR 50 M in the total. ‘We believe LG Romania sales will continue to grow this year. TV sales will grow by approximately 10 per cent, the rate still being smaller than last year’s when we reported 18 per cent growth’, Spinu further said.
