UNS presents annual awards
The Journalists' Association of Serbia (UNS) presented on Sunday its annual awards and the most important one, for life's work, went posthumously to recently deceased head of Radio and Television of Serbia (RTS) Aleksandar Tijanic, with his daughter receiving the award in his stead.
RTS editor Nenad Stefanovic said at the event, which marked the 132nd anniversary of the UNS, that many of Tijanic's columns had survived for decades and become preliminary drafts of history.
The Bogdan Tirnanic award for commentary was given to columnist of the daily newspaper Politika Miroslav Lazanski.
The Dimitrije Davidovic award for editorial work was presented to Budimir Nicic, who is the editor of the series Slobodno srpski, which is broadcast in Kosovo.
Milena Markovic from Vecernje novosti and Jelena Petkovic from the Frankfurt based Vesti won the Laza Kostic award for reporting.
UNS Secretary General Nino Brajovic said the UNS was celebrating its anniversary in a difficult year for journalism, and that the next year, which will be crucial for the media reforms, will be even more difficult.
