Tourism can be generator of recovery of BiH economy
Tourism can be a generator of recovery of the BiH economy if we manage to take advantage of all the resources and potential and become interested in private capital that could be invested in tourism, said spokeswoman of the Tourist Board of the Sarajevo Canton Asja Hadžiefendić - Mešić at the round table on "Development of tourism as a generator of employment in the Sarajevo Canton" held in Sarajevo, organized by the Employment Service of the SC.
She specified that tourism in SC since 1997 has shown annual growth rate of about 10 percent, while in the past 11 months of 2013, growth of 18 percent has been recorded and the number of guests and the number of overnight stays has increased.
“With development of tourism, government interventions where necessary and attracting investment, we can increase the overall profits from tourism, create jobs and provide guests with adequate offer that we can adequately charge,” emphasized Hadžiefendić - Mešić.
She said that the activities of the FBiH Tax Administration and the Department for Foreigners of the Ministry of Security of BiH this summer resulted in discovering at tourist facilities about 30 percent of undeclared labor force and if these people would be "removed" from the employment bureau registry that would allow others to have much better conditions for employment.
“Last year we had more than 900 million KM from export tourism, but estimates show that this amount could be much higher,” said Hadžiefendić - Mešić.
