Record number of HIV-positive people in Albania
A record number of HIV-positive people was registered in Albania last year, an official report of the Institute for Public Healthcare in Tirana reads. 122 new cases were registered over the period, 24 of those in December. According to the institute a total of 696 people in Albania are HIV-positive, but experts say the number is higher. 30 percent of the infected are women and the most cases are in the area of the capital Tirana. The first case of AIDS in Albania was registered back in 1991.
