Methodological individualism or anti-social turn?

The author of “Capitalism With a Human Face” tries to justify Thatcher’s infamous saying that “there is no such thing as society” Certainly society is not a thing but a reality of moral sentiments, values, symbols and emotions embodied in history and common effort. The Author interpreting the saying focuses on the idea of an omnipotent State that in fact is paralyzing societies and dumps any sense of responsibility of the citizen. Evidence of a post liberal era with societies in disarray due to a severe financial crisis is certainly not a cause for liberalism to celebrate triumph though it is always useful to keep alert societies of their causes of stagnation being socialist or liberal.
