Qatar’s risk in the Syrian conflict

On of the most comprehensive articles of the Syrian opposition and the role of Qatar. Important elements of the reason of Qatar’s involvement in the Syrian conflict are given that lead to several conclusions. The country playing the card of the Arab revolution had found itself inextricably engaged in the conflict. Under convincing explanations it appears not to be a paradox to support an islamist group in order to diminish the power of Iran in the region. Backing the revolutionary forces at all costs is considered preferable than losing control. In this way keeping the influence and holding the reins of financial support seem consistent with a strategy of regional influence not in opposition to western interests in general. However, the risk of a so decisive involvement in such a messy environment that places Qatar in the seat of the protagonist has to be revalued in view of the protracted bloodbath.
