Turkish apparel stores stage Athens debut
Turkish apparel chain stores Ipekyol, Inci and Koton have made their debut at The Mall shopping centre in the northern suburb of Maroussi. The Tuesday launch was attended by Turkey's visiting minister of state for external trade, Kursat Tuzmen, who noted that trade between Greece and Turkey totalled USD1.8 billion and was expected to top $2 billion this year. The three apparel chains have 40, 34 and 136 outlets respectively in Turkey and abroad, including the new Greek stores. Anticipated turnover in the first year of operation is 2.5-3 million euros for Ipekyol, 2 million for Inci and 5 million for Koton. The total investment for the three companies is 1.950 million euros, divided as follows: Ipekyol, 750,000 euros for two stores (Ipekyol and Machka), Inci, 250,000 euros, and Koton, 950,000 euros, Greek news agency ANA-MPA reported. Ipekyol aims to operate 15 stores in Greece by 2010. Koton's Mall outlet is its 36th outside Turkey.
