Macedonian information agency transformed into share holding company

The Government decided Thursday to transform the public enterprise Macedonian Information Agency - MIA into a state-owned share holding company. The Cabinet of Ministers also adopted MIA's status.

The Macedonian Information Agency has been established in 1998. It employs about 50 journalists, correspondents and technical personnel. Last year the Agency purchased new equipment, which will enable launching of new software next month and accordingly access for MIA's subscribers to its archive.

The Macedonian Information Agency - MIA is a public information service, as well as only one in the country that meets the professional standards in its domain - reporting on developments and phenomena and producing, distributing news and other press information.

Today, without exemption, all domestic printed and electronic media, embassies, foreign missions to the country and other institutions, including Macedonia's embassies abroad are MIA's subscribers. The Agency news are also available to Macedonian Diaspora, their papers, radio and TV-hours.

MIA distributes news 24 hours a day in Macedonian, English and Albanian language, including special sub-services, daily, weekly bulletins, photo and audio services, setting the basis of Macedonia's information space
