The Bulgarian government will dish out almost BGN 140 million in state and European subsidies in 2010, deputy farm minister Tsvetan Dimitrov told Dnevnik in an interview.
National payments to European aid paid per decare of arablae land will be supplemented by BGN 22 million in unabsorbed European aid for the farming 2008/2009.
For 2009, farmers received BGN 85 million.
During his most recent visit to Brussels, agriculture minister Miroslav Naydenov has requested that unabsorbed direct payments be reallocated to the beleaguered dairy sector in 2010 instead of channeled back to the EU budget.
The final distribution of BGN 220 million in national co-payments will be voted by the Council of Ministers.
