Hungarian private equity firm Oriens closed its first equity fund at the end of December and will put some of the capital in Bulgarian investments, the company said. Danube Fund raised USD 20 million, which will be pumped in small businesses with growth potential in Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania. “The fund will focus mostly on the services sector,” said Viktor Dimitrov, investment manager at Oriens. The team is already actively looking at projects in retail, healthcare, energy and b2b sectors, he added. Oriens will invest around USD 3 million to 6 million per company, seeking a majority stake and effective participation in management.
